I have been in pain for more than 2 years due to a simple fall that caused a TFCC injury.
I did all mistakes that one could make – with this website I want to help you avoid these mistakes and get this fixed as soon as possible.
Here is my full story:
08th Feb, 2024:
A small fall from my scooter on my outstreched hand in Vietnam – I had pain on my ankle and pain on the bony part of my wrist (ulnar styloid).
09th Feb, 2024:
Next day, I went to a General Practitioner – we took an X-ray.
The doctor didn’t find anything and said, I can just go home and wait (no brace etc.)
10th Feb, 2024 – 20th Feb, 2024:
I wrapped my wrist and arm with a bandage and used a scarf as a sling.
Wrist pain was gone.
Feb -March: Wrist pain came back again 2 to 3 times a week and the aggregated into my forearm. I called friends and family.
Everyone said: “It’s not a big thing.”
April:
I started driving my scooter again for 3 days for a few hours – after that the pain increased so much that I had to stop working (software engineer).
I was in constant 24/7 on my wrist.
An MRI was done, result: “Triangular fibrocartilage complex” – in short: TFCC.
April – June:
I resigned from my job as I couldn’t work anymore.
I looked fulltime for doctors in Vietnam in different cities (Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Ho-Chi-Minh). I visited in total 15 medical professionals:
– GPs
– orthopedic surgeons
– physiotherapists
– oesthopaths
– chiropracticors
We tried everything that came to the mind of doctors (nothing of those that are actually in the protocol fot TFCCs)
– ice baths
– hard cast until forearm
– resting/not working
I soon realized that surgery is unavoidable so I decided to leave Vietnam.
July – September:
I went back to Germany (my home country). I continue looking for doctors – this time I focused only on hand surgeons.
Meanwhile I talked to the founders of wirst widget to try physio therapy again while wearing the wrist widget 24/7.
After seeing four, one of them convinced me for surgery.
He fulfilled many of my checkboxes for that time for a surgeon:
– he was in a clinic that only focused on orthopedics
– he was the chief of the department for hand surgery
– he was still operating himself weekly
– he was doing 3 other TFCC surgeries the same week
He also explained to me what should have been right at the beginning after my fall.
October – January:
I had my surgery in October, 6 weeks followed in a soft cast until above the elbow (called: Muenster cast) and another 6 weeks of physio.
I repeatedly complained about pain to the doctor, but they said it is normal.
February – December, 2025:
The pain after surgery resisted. I started to go global and talked to approximately 10 more doctors.
I was able to find the community of the best wrist doctor worldwide.
Some I called and some I visited on-side, including:
– Italy (1 doctor)
– France (2 doctors, online and on-site)
– USA (1 doctor, online)
– Singapore (2 doctors, online and on-site)
– Spain (2 doctors, online)
I was trying to find out what the error in the surgery was when we received the surgery report and pictures of the surgery.
In October 2025, we found out the mistake of the doctor (it is very medical – I will explain in more details later in videos).
January, 2026:
After 1 year, I decided to go for a second surgery.
This time in France.
I will keep you updated.
